Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Translation and Interpreting

 

The newly established Department of Translation & Interpreting of Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has full-time positions for its B.A. program in Translation and Interpreting, to begin in August 2007.  

 

A Ph.D. in interpreting or translation or in lexicology is required, with practical translation experience (especially between Chinese and English) preferred. Scholars with a PhD in other areas will also be considered as long as the applicant has more than 5 years’ practical translation or interpreting experience. Applicants under 60 years are welcomed to apply.

 

The applicants for interpreting/translation positions are required to teach at least two of the following courses: interpreting or translation theory, interpreting or translation practice, cultural study and translation, or Western or Chinese history of translation. The professor in lexicology is expected to do some proofreading work for the college, the department and the translation service affiliated to the college. Competence to teach in English is expected.

 

The positions are highly challenging. In return, the college offers tax bonus, one-way ticket to Kaohsiung, and free accommodation in the college for one year. Interviews will be held via web conference.
